Premium Event Flooring in Action: Building the Fukasawa Stand at the Melbourne Motor Show
When you’re showcasing high-end imported performance vehicles to thousands of automotive enthusiasts, standard convention centre carpeting simply won’t cut it. This year at the Melbourne Motor Show, held at the Melbourne Convention Center, the Flexspec team had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Fukasawa Car Imports to build a jaw-dropping custom display podium.
Having previously built podiums for major brands all around Australia and at last year’s Melbourne Motor Show, we knew exactly what was required to make their booth the star of the hall. We brought in 600 of our flagship Garage Floor Tiles to transform an empty concrete floor into a premium, eye-catching automotive showcase.

The Ultimate Solution for Event Flooring
Trade shows operate on incredibly tight schedules. Because the main hall lights weren’t even on yet when we arrived, we had to pre-assemble the floor in 6×6 slabs outside the exhibit area.

Bringing their Idea to Life
The Fukasawa Imports team wanted a booth that clearly defined different zones. Referencing a design, we were able to map out a brilliant design utilising our incredibly popular Doom Grey, Navy Blue, and Arctic White GridFlex Pro™ tiles.
We created a distinct navy and white checkered area specifically to anchor their branded blue gazebo. Surrounding that, we laid out designated podium spots perfectly sized for their showcase vehicles. The contrasting white borders and popular Doom Grey base created a professional, high-impact environment that truly let their pristine white Mitsubishi Evo 8, silver Honda S2000, striking blue Land Cruiser, and classic Mitsuoka-style convertible shine.
Continuous Innovation: The Upgraded Ramps
At Flexspec, we are obsessed with constant improvement. For this install, we used our brilliant white edge ramps to create a clear visual border, alerting attendees to the slight step-up and mitigating any trip hazards.
More importantly, these ramps feature our newly upgraded moulds. Extruded plastics naturally expand in the heat, which used to occasionally cause edge buckling in extreme conditions. To solve this, our new moulds feature a built-in 1-2mm gap that allows for natural thermal expansion. The result is a perfectly flat, secure edge that never buckles, no matter how hot the venue gets.
