When it comes to creating a dream home, every detail counts — and The Block contestants Britt and Taz proved that even the garage can be a showstopper.
“When you’re building a home to be the best of the best, you need to look at every single detail,” says Block contestant Taz. “From the front gate to the backyard, everything has to be perfect, with an attention to detail that just screams ‘luxe’. And that certainly includes the garage.”
Why the Garage Deserves a Makeover
The Western Australian couple — who took on The Block Heartland — knew their garage flooring couldn’t be an afterthought.
“When it came time for us to finish off our Block home, one of the last spaces left was the garage,” says Taz. “And we’ve seen it so many times in years gone by on The Block that the garage can be an area that just gets overlooked. We definitely didn’t want to do that!”
They saw their garage not just as a parking space, but as an extension of their living area — a space that could double as a gym, a studio, or a statement room.
“The garage just couldn’t look like something that was tacked on at the end,” Taz says. “We wanted to take it to the next level and make it super classy.”

“Is it a gallery or a garage?” asked Darren Palmer, while Shaynna Blaze exclaimed, “Show me the money!”
The couple’s design helped them win the week, with Shaynna awarding a perfect 10.
